Obbadi set for Monaco return

French giants Monaco hope to see Moroccan midfielder Mounir Obbadi return to Stade Louis II this winter, according to L’Equipe.

The 31-year-old left the Ligue 1 side in the summer to join Hellas Verona on a season-long loan, but he has failed to impress in Italian Serie A.

As a result, Monaco hope they can persuade the Italian club to terminate the loan deal since they could really use the player’s services in the second part of the season.

With Geoffrey Kondogbia and Tiemoue Bakayoko out injured, the Principality club aim to lure Obbadi back to Stade Louis II.

The experienced midfielder joined Monaco in January 2013 from Troyes and he first helped the club return to the elite division before impressing in Ligue 1 last term.

Obbadi has been out for the last couple of months through injury, meaning that he is unlikely to be missed at Hellas Verona if he returns to France.
