October 13th: Friday’s EURO 24 Qualifying Double – 3/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the penultimate round of EURO 24 qualifying fixtures getting underway this week, countries from across the continent will be looking to move one step closer to punching their ticket to Germany.

In a heavyweight schedule that is highlighted by France’s trip to Holland, we have taken a look at two showdowns that can potentially offer a great return for your Friday flutter.

19:45 Netherlands vs France

While France might have suffered major World Cup final heartbreak at the hands of Argentina out in Qatar over the winter, Les Bleus certainly aren’t showing any signs of a hangover. Only continuing to shine since opening their European Championship qualifying adventure earlier in the year, Friday’s guests are breezing their way to top spot in Group B.

In the midst of a major qualifying romp and continuing to gain a string of plaudits, Didier Deschamps’ superstar squad know that they can punch their ticket to EURO 24 with another heavyweight statement over the next fortnight.

Winning each of their five Group B showdowns this year and marking their return to qualifying duties holding a commanding six-point buffer over the chasing pack.

Likewise, excited to make a return to qualifying action on Friday night, France will also be excited by their most recent meeting against their fellow European heavyweights.

Putting in a rampant performance in Paris as they claimed a 4-0 romp back on March 24th, Deschamps’ side will be hoping to make a similar impact here.

On the flip side, although the Netherlands might have come crashing out of the Nations League back in June following a pair of action-packed defeats against Italy and Croatia, the Oranges have come roaring back.

Last seen in Group B action landing a lively 2-1 win away at Ireland, Ronal Koeman’s men have won each of their previous three qualifying appearances by an aggregate score of 8-1.

Still sat in the driving seat to punch their European Championships ticket over the next fortnight, neutrals could be treated to a thrilling affair in Amsterdam this weekend.

19:45 Portugal vs Slovakia

Although Portugal might have come under real scrutiny over the winter as they saw their World Cup adventure come to an abrupt end following a 1-0 loss at the hands of Morocco, Friday’s hosts have come roaring back in some style. Breezing their way to next year’s European Championships without breaking much of a sweat, the Navigators find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high.

Last seen signing off September’s international break with a remarkable 9-0 romp against Luxembourg, the former European champions have won each of their first six Group J appearances.

Really gaining a reputation for their stellar free-scoring performances in the final third and notching 24 strikes in those six qualifying showdowns, Roberto Martinez has certainly made an immediate impact since taking over earlier in the year.

Although five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo might have stolen most of Portugal’s headlines, Liverpool ace Diogo Jota has enjoyed his own purple patch in front of goals.

In fact, along with notching a brace against Luxembourg last month, the ex-Wolves attacker has recorded five goals in his previous six appearances for club and country.

On the flip side, also in the midst of what has been a history-making qualifying romp this year, Slovakia are sat in pole position to secure a stunning return to the major tournament stage.

Signing off September’s international break with a routine 3-0 win against Liechtenstein, the Falcons have collected 13 points from their six Group J appearances and they are riding a remarkable wave of momentum.

However, knowing that they face a monumental challenge when they arrive in Lisbon this weekend, it is hard to see how Slovakia pull off a famous upset on foreign soil.
