October 20th: Friday’s Daily Double – 5/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

Watching all of Europe’s elite make their respective returns from October’s international break this weekend, we have a stacked Friday schedule on the cards.

With the likes of Ligue 1 and La Liga stealing centre stage on Friday night, we have found a pair of intriguing betting markets that are worth keeping an eye out for.

19:30 Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen

After suffering major Bundesliga title heartbreak last season as they rather spectacularly fell at the final hurdle, many were wondering how Borussia Dortmund would fair when opening up the new campaign. However, really impressing while on domestic duties since opening proceedings back in August, Friday’s hosts will be looking to keep up their momentum here.

Heading into October’s international break with an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against Union Berlin, the German giants will know that another win on Friday night would briefly send them top of the Bundesliga table.

Winning each of their last four Bundesliga appearances and notching 12 goals on their recent domestic purple patch, the one-time West Ham boss could be calling summer recruit Niclas Fullkrug to spearhead Dortmund’s attack against his former employers.

Making the move from Werder Bremen and once again finding the net while away with Germany over the past fortnight, the 30-year-old will be smelling a golden chance to extend on his recent tally here.

Although Friday’s guests might have opened up the new campaign dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine top-half charge, the River Islanders find themselves in the midst of a real Bundesliga struggle.

Heading into October’s international break with a worrying 3-2 defeat at home against Hoffenheim, Ole Werner’s side have now lost three of their last four domestic appearances and have continued to show a string of defensive issues.

Along with opening October with a shock 4-2 drumming at the hands of Darmstadt, Bremen should be bracing themselves for a stern examination in rural Germany.

Betting Tip: Niclas Fullkrug to score anytime @ 21/20 with Pribet

20:00 Rotherham vs Ipswich

While Ipswich might have only made their Championship return this season, Friday’s hosts have continued on a remarkable fairytale story. Gaining a string of plaudits and riding a major wave of momentum over recent times, it is no secret that the Blues have their sights firmly set on mounting yet another promotion charge this time around.

Already tipped as a standout contender in this year’s top-two chase, Kieran McKenna’s high-flying squad have already collected a staggering 28 points from their first 11 Championship appearances.

Last seen heading into October’s international break with an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against play-off dreamers Preston, the one-time Manchester United coach will be calling on his side to lay down another marker here.

Really flying out of the traps since opening up the 2023/24 campaign and holding a commanding eight-point buffer from slipping out of the automatic promotion places, Ipswich should be relishing a trip to Yorkshire on Friday night.

On the flip side, while Rotherham might have just about clung to their Championship status last season, it appears that the Millers are destined for another relegation scrap this time around.

Although Matt Taylor’s men might have entered the fortnight interval with a gritty 1-1 stalemate away at Southampton, Friday’s hosts have recorded just a single win from any of their previous 11 straight appearances across all formats – a run that stems all the way back to August 8th.

Hit with a 4-1 drumming when they last met Ipswich while on FA Cup duties back in August, Rotherham will be more than aware that they face another real challenge at the New York Stadium.
