With the Premier League’s return now fast approaching on the horizon, many are expecting another thrilling title chase during the 2023/24 campaign.

Watching Manchester City complete another domestic romp last season as they eventually managed to pinch Arsenal at the final hurdle, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are also looking to spring their own upset.

With just over a fortnight until England’s elite mark their return to top-flight action, we have taken a look at who has been installed as the pre-season title contenders with the bookmakers.

Manchester City

Mounting a stunning charge when returning from the World Cup’s winter break as they eventually claimed a fifth Premier League crown from the past six seasons, Manchester City certainly made real history last month.

Becoming the first English club since 1999 to be crowned treble-champions after getting their hands on a maiden European trophy after claiming a 1-0 victory against Inter Milan on June 10th, Pep Guardiola’s superstar squad have have embarked on a domestic dynasty.

With attacking icon Erling Haaland breaking a string of Premier League records and tipped as a leading contender to claim a first Ballon d’Or crown in 2023, the ex-Barcelona boss has made it clear that domestic success still remains at the top of his agenda.

Eventually defending their Premier League title last season thanks to a five-point buffer, the Sky Blues unsurprisingly find themselves tipped as a standout pick to make more top-flight history next year.

While Manchester City might have been shockingly quite during this summer’s transfer window, it will take some doing to stop Guardiola’s high-flying squad next season.

Arsenal

Left heartbroken last season after missing out on the chance to claim a first Premier League title since 2004, Arsenal are desperate to prove that their domestic romp last season was more than just a one-off.

Falling at the final hurdle back in May after enduring a stuttering end to the 2022/23 campaign, Mikel Arteta’s young squad will have to show that there is no signs of a hangover come next month.

Nevertheless, while Arsenal might have eventually fallen short last season, the Gunners have made a major statement of intent during the summer transfer window.

Already spending over £300million as they welcomed the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to north London, the one-time Manchester City coach believes his blossoming squad are now sat in a far more dangerous position.

Enjoying an eye-catching pre-season flurry during their summer tour of the USA, Arsenal have quickly developed into one of Europe’s most exciting young squads.

Booking a crucial Champions League return last season, many are expecting last year’s silver medalists to once again be City’s standout contender over the next 10 months.

Liverpool

Enduring what was a public Premier League struggle last season and shockingly missing out on a top-four finish, Liverpool will know that they are under a huge amount of scrutiny next season.

However, while the Reds might have endured their most testing campaign under Jurgen Klopp, the former European champions are expected to make a string of improvements this time around.

With the one-time Borussia Dortmund boss embarking on a real squad overhaul this summer, Liverpool will open the 2023/24 campaign with a new-look squad at Anfield.

Watching both midfield stars Jordan Henderson and Fabinho complete their own respective moves to Saudi Arabia last week, Liverpool are trying to head in a more youthful direction.

Welcoming the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai arrive on Merseyside this month, Klopp’s squad are desperate to mount a genuine title charge next season and once again upset City’s dominance.
