West Brom’s Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie is expected to miss Sunday’s clash against Wolves with a calf strain.
The 29-year-old marksman has become a key player for West Brom after his off-season move from Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, with his six goals from 12 appearances playing a large part in the Midlands outfit’s 11th place in the English Premier League.
Odemwingie is being troubled by a calf complaint, which caused him to miss West Brom’s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Roberto Di Matteo told the club’s official website the striker was doubtful for the Wolves game, but was optimistic he could line up against Bolton on Boxing Day.
“Peter’s still doubtful. He’s still injured and hasn’t trained yet this week,” Di Matteo said.
“It is a little calf strain that is causing the problem and I’m not very hopeful on him at the moment.”
“If Peter’s not back for this game, he’ll hopefully be back for the next one.”
