Real Madrid were considering the possibility of keeping Achraf Hakimi, who spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Borussia Dortmund, in Madrid to provide cover and competition for right-back Dani Carvajal, but the 21-year-old is now set to join Inter Milan on a permanent basis.
According to AS, Hakimi’s imminent move to Italy seems to have opened the door for Alvaro Odriozola to get a chance instead. The 24-year-old was also in Germany, but only for the second half of the season where he had been on loan with Bayern Munich. But unlike Hakimi, Odriozola didn’t make much impact in the Bundesliga, playing only four times for the Bavarians in the German top flight. He will, however, stay in Munich until Bayern’s Champions League campaign is over. After that, he will return to the Spanish capital.
Real head coach Zinedine Zidane has apparently been worried about not having a natural replacement for Carvajal, but with Odriozola coming back, that problem of his should be resolved.
