According to Sky Sports sources, the issue of Paul Scholes potentially becoming the new manager of Oldham Athletic will be resolved later this week. The Latics are currently languishing down in the fourth tier of English football after being relegated from League One last season, with recent reports suggesting that Manchester AUnited legend Paul Scholes could be interested in becoming their new boss.
However, there has been some back and forth regarding whether or not he’d be allowed to do so due to the fact he is a part owner of Salford City. EFL rules clearly state that someone cannot have an interest in two clubs at the same time, meaning that Scholes could be forced to relinquish his role with Salford in the name of taking the job. The midfield maestro isn’t prepared to do that, although the report also suggests that it’d only become a big issue if Salford gained promotion to the Football League this season.
