Olic set for Wolfsburg stay

Croatia international Ivica Olic is set to reject a move to Stoke City and sign a new deal at Wolfsburg, according to Sky Sports.

Potters manager Mark Hughes had been keen on securing a deal for the former Hamburg and Bayern Munich man, though despite revealing a desire to play in the Premier League, the striker is set to remain at the Volkswagen Arena.

Olic has scored twelve goals in twenty-eight Bundesliga appearances so far this season, which have helped his side to fifth place with four matches still to play.

Dieter Hecking’s men will however turn their attention to the semi-finals of this season’s DFV-Pokal tomorrow evening, when they will face Borussia Dortmund.

Their best showing in the competition came in 1994-95 season when they got to the final, eventually losing to Borussia Monchengladbach by three goals to nil at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, and they are 11/1 to go one better and lift the trophy this time around.
