A report from the Metro suggests that Manchester United target Nelson Oliveira has played down talk that he will be leaving Benfica.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna in order to gain some much needed first-team experience.
Oliveira has struggled to really set the world alight in his career so far, but is very highly-rated by many European clubs and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him.
When asked about his future, the Portugal international said: “I am focused on having a good season here. The season has started now and I am not paying any interest to the news I could leave.”
It seems as though the forward is saying the right things at the moment and is keen to score some goals this campaign and enhance his reputation as a very good front-man.
If he is to score plenty of goals this year, then United could really step up their interest in him and it would be tough for Benfica to turn a big offer down.
Oliveira could face a big decision in the next summer transfer window – does he move to the Red Devils and try to break his way into the side? Or does he stay in Portugal and play a lot of first-team football?
We shall see.
