Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he would like to join Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
It is now clear that the Ligue 1 side will not be able to keep hold of their prized asset from joining one of the big European clubs and it appears the player has already made his choice.
Bayern Munich recently confirmed interest in the 25-year-old, and now the player has admitted the Bavarians have contacted his representative regarding a transfer to Alianz Arena.
“I haven’t spoken with Bayern Munich personally, but my agent has been in touch with them,” the Frenchman told Sport Bild.
“Bayern Munich are very well known in France because of all the positive experiences other French players have had there.”
Giroud reveals he is already warming up for the competition with Bayern striker Mario Gomez.
“It’s not unthinkable that Gomez and I rotate a bit because of the huge amount of matches Bayern play in various competitions. Gomez would probably be first choice in the big games at this point.”
Giroud has two years left on his deal at Stade de la Mosson, but it looks as though a move to Bayern is only a matter of time.
The France international has proved his goalscoring abilities by bagging 21 goals in 34 Ligue 1 games.
