Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud admits he is interested in joining a big European club at the end of the season.
The highly rated forward is followed by major European clubs such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich and he is widely tipped to leave the Ligue 1 side for greener pastures at the end of the season.
The Ligue 1 leading goalscorer explains that he is tempted by the prospect of playing for a big European club.
“I would like to play for a big European club, in the Champions League,” Giroud said at a press conference.
The player also revealed that the outcome of Montpellier’s race for Champions League qualification will play a major part in his decision.
“Whether Montpellier participate (in the Champions League) or not will have an importance on my decision and on the rest of my career. Here I really blossomed.”
MHSC currently sit one point behind Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain and they are ten points clear of fourth-placed Lyon.
Giroud played a major part in team’s uptrend in fortunes this season, scoring 16 league goals in 22 appearances.
The 25-year-old, whose release clause stands at €16 million, is heavily linked with a summer exit from Stade de la Mosson.
