Olympiakos are readying summer bid for Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason, the Greek club have confirmed.
The Greek champions plan to reinforce the attacking department ahead of the new campaign and they have made the Icelandic striker their number one target.
Club president Evangelos Marinakis has moved to confirm that Olympiakos are indeed interested in signing the 25-year-old.
“He is a very good player who we have already followed for a year,” Marinakis told Greek TV station Mega Channel.
“We will try to sign him. We have looked at other players for this position, but he is the best.”
Alfred Finnbogason is almost certain to leave the Frisians this summer as he only has one year left on his current deal.
The player recently stated his preference for Italy and Germany, but Olympiakos were the first club to make their interest concrete.
Finnbogason joined Heerenveen from Lokeren two years ago and has since largely impressed in Dutch Eredivisie.
The highly rated forward has made a total of 65 league outings for the Frisians and scored no less than 53 goals in the process.
