Olympiakos announced on Thursday that they have come to an agreement with English club Blackburn Rovers for the permanent transfer of striker Matt Derbyshire to the Greek champions.
No financial details of the deal were revealed by Olympiakos but press reports here say that the transfer will cost the Greek club three million euros.
Olympiakos will have the services of the 23-year-old forward for the next four years.
Derbyshire came to Olympiakos on loan from Blackburn in January and was often used as a substitute, playing in 13 matches and scoring eight goals.
He scored two goals when Olympiakos won the Greek Cup last month and was considered the hero of the match by the team’s supporters.
Derbyshire played in 22 matches last season for Blackburn, his hometown club, scoring five goals, having featured in 54 matches and scored 12 goals over the previous two seasons at the north-west side.
He has also played for England’s Under-21 side in 13 matches, scoring six goals.
