Onazi agrees new Lazio deal

La Gazzetta dello Sport can reveal that Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi is set to extend his contract with Lazio.

The 21-year-old has another two years left on his current deal, but his agent Jonathan Barnet has agreed a contract until June 2018 with the Biancocelesti on behalf of his client.

As a result, Onazi will be earning around €700,000 per campaign, with a €10 million release clause set to be inserted.

The central midfielder has spent his entire professional career at Stadio Olimpico having joined the club in 2011 and has so far featured in 45 Serie A matches.

After starting all four games for Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup, Onazi needed some time to reach full fitness and he has yet to make his first appearance of the season.

Following the 3-0 victory over Cesena last weekend, Lazio face Genoa at Stadio Luigi Ferraris later today, and they are 5/4 favourites to emerge victorious.
