The summer’s second biggest transfer soap opera has now taken a new turn. Last week Aston Villa declared that the player’s move to Liverpool has reached an impasse after The Reds failed to meet Aston Villa’s deadline in their pursuit of the player.
However, Martin O’Neill, who shortly thereafter declared his delight at the possibility to continue working with Barry, has now admitted that a deal could yet be struck.
“Once the deadline had passed, we were very upbeat. But [Barry and his agent] still felt that Liverpool were going to come in and do the deal.”
“I’ve listened to what they’ve said and I’ll go with it – reluctantly, but I’ll go with it. Liverpool now have up to the normal window, which is the 31st of this month. The ball is in their court,” said O’Neill, as reported by The Guardian.
