Divock Origi has agreed to join AC Milan when his contract with Liverpool expires this season, writes Fabrizio Romano for The Guardian.
The Belgian striker has been a fringe player at Liverpool for a very long time, despite scoring a number of goals vital for everything Liverpool have done under Jurgen Klopp. His heroics have put his name firmly on the list of fan favourites, and even Klopp admitted he had never missed a player as much as he’d miss Origi.
With Liverpool boasting a variety of top-quality forwards, Origi is now practically sixth choice to be given a shot, and there was simply no point in signing a new contract for him in those circumstances. The 27-year-old will be counted on to contribute to the team’s final push for the Premier League title when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, as well as the Champions League final against Real Madrid six days later, and that will be it for his eight-year connection with the Merseyside giants.
The personal terms with Milan have been agreed and the medical is expected to take place after the Champions League final.
