Competition: MLS
Market: Orlando City win
Odds: 3/4 @ 888sport
Looking to extend on what has been a stellar start to the season, a high-flying Orlando will welcome away day strugglers New York Red Bulls to the Exploria Stadium on Sunday.
Starting with the hosts, while Orlando might have been hit with that defeat against Sunday’s opponents when heading into the international break, The Purples have bounced back in some style. Only continuing to gain a string of admirers from across the MLS since opening the 2021 campaign, Óscar Pareja’s side have their sights set on clinching top spot in the Eastern Conference this year. With the mood in their camp at a real high and once again boosted by that 2-1 victory against a struggling Inter Miami last time out, Orlando have won each of their last three MLS matchups on the bounce. Spearheaded by a free-scoring Nani who has done a stellar job of leading their charge, this weekend’s hosts have collected 15 points from their last six MLS matchups. Also yet to taste defeat on home soil this season, The Lions will be smelling a chance to lay down another marker.
As for the visitors, while New York might have managed to land themselves back-to-back victories on either side of the international break, The Red Bulls have gained a reputation for their rather glaring inconsistencies. Having to settle for a point away at Atlanta last weekend, Gerhard Struber’s side failed to bounce back from that action-packed 3-2 defeat away at New England back on June 24th. With just a pair of victories from their last six MLS matchups, the former Barnsley boss has also seen his side gain a real reputation for their problems on the road. Including that dull stalemate last time out, the one-time champions have collected just a single point from their five away day contests since opening the 2021 campaign. Shipping over 2.5 goals in three of those defeats, we’re backing a home victory here.
