Orlando City are set to complete the signing of Brazilian defender Paulo Andre, according to Orlando Sentinel.
The United States club are preparing for their maiden MLS season and they continue to reinforce their squad.
Having acquired the services of former Chivas USA midfielder Eric Avila, Orlando City are on the verge of adding Paulo Andre to their ranks.
The 31-year-old, who has represented Chinese Shanghai Shenhua since March 2014, has already arrived in the United States, where he is undergoing a medical ahead of joining the new MLS side.
“We do have Paulo André in the city,” club general manager Paul McDonough was quoted as saying. “He is undergoing a medical this morning in hopes of finalizing contract negotiations.”
Paulo Andre is a very experienced defender that has won numerous accolades in native Brazil with Corinthians, while also enjoying a short spell with Le Mans.
He is set to join fellow defender Gustavo and former AC Milan star Kaka in Florida and is expected to form a centre-back pairing with winter recruit Aurelien Collin.
