New York Red Bulls head coach Juan Carlos Osorio concedes his team rode their luck against Real Salt Lake to reach the Major League Soccer Cup Final.
The Red Bulls managed to reach their first MLS Cup Final in club history, despite Real Salt Lake having 24 attempts on goal.
Dave van den Bergh scored the match-winner for the Red Bulls in 28th minute.
“I think we have to congratulate all the guys, and the post,” said Osorio. “I have been disappointed, sometimes, with our luck. But, I think we got it today. The man upstairs has helped us today.”
The Red Bulls will face the Columbus Crew in the MLS Cup Final next Sunday.
“It’s a funny game that way,” Red Bulls goalkeeper Danny Cepero said. “Sometimes, a quarter of an inch one way and those go in. Luck is on our side. Hopefully, the luck doesn’t run out and we bring it with us to LA.
“Sometimes, you need that luck because you can only work so hard. There are times when the ball is just going to have to bounce your way. Fortunately for us, it did bounce our way.”
