Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has revealed he nearly joined Atletico Madrid before eventually choosing to move to China.
The 26-year-old Brazil international jumped the Chinese bandwagon in January when he moved to Shanghai SIPG after four-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, but the midfielder has now opened up on a missed chance to join Diego Simeone’s side.
“When I was talking with Shanghai, I was talking to big clubs from Europe, as well. There was Atletico Madrid, who I almost joined. I liked them very much and what they were offering me at that time.” Oscar told Copa 90.
Oscar also claims Italian giants Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan were in the running to sign him.
The Brazilian midfielder added he is thinking about returning to Europe revealing it is an option that could materialise in near future.
Oscar has emerged as a first-team regular in Shanghai where he already has 18 appearances under his belt for the Chinese Super League side. The Former Blues star added two goals for his team.
