Oscar Rodriguez, currently on a two-year loan at Leganes from Real Madrid, is a man in much demand at the moment. The midfielder’s stint with the La Liga relegation battlers is about to expire, but according to The Athletic, he is unlikely to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 22-year-old has scored nine goals and laid on two assists in 31 appearances in all competitions this summer. He appears to be a superb free-kick taker, with his dead-ball conversion rate of 25% surpassing by far that of Lionel Messi (11%).
It still remains to be seen where Oscar will be plying his trade next season. The likes of Sevilla, Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Villarreal are all keen to keep him in the Spanish top flight, and the report claims sources close to the player have revealed he would prefer that. However, interest in his services has been registered from AC Milan, Schalke 04, Bournemouth and Norwich City as well.
Real apparently want €25 million for his services, and the fact that his contract with them runs for three more years puts them in a strong position regarding any potential transfer negotiations.
