Victor Osimhen of Lille OSC is very close to completing a move to Napoli, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old is a versatile attacking player mostly deployed as a centre-forward, but he can hit the opposition defences coming in from either flank too. Capped eight times for Nigeria, Osimhen played in 38 games for Lille in all competitions in 2019/20, scoring 18 times and providing his teammates with six assists. He has been on the radar of numerous clubs across Europe, but it seems Napoli have won the race for his signature.
Last week, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport and revealed he had spoken to Osimhen, encouraging him to pick Napoli over other potential destinations.
Romano says the Serie A side have already agreed personal terms with the player, and all that now remains is for the two clubs to complete the final details of the deal. Osimhen’s contract doesn’t expire before 2024, which puts the Ligue 1 side into a position where they can demand a substantial sum, despite the proposed financial implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on the market.
