Two sides who are looking to secure their spot in the final of this year’s UEFA Nations League, Holland will host England on Thursday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Holland may have suffered a close-fought 3-2 defeat against Germany as they look to secure qualification for EURO 2020, Ronald Koeman’s side have enjoyed quite the revolution. Missing out on back-to-back major tournaments, the Oranges marched towards their Nations League semi-final and the mood in their camp is the highest it has been in recent memory. Losing just one match since September, a huge part of their recent turnaround has been their scintillating form in the final third. Led by the red-hot Memphis Depay, the hosts have scored 10 goals in their last four outings and have registered two or more goals in each of their previous five matches at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
As for the visitors, putting five past Montenegro and enjoying a stellar start to their EURO 2020 qualification, Gareth Southgate’s side are continuing on what has been a stellar 18 months. Enjoying a five-match winning run, a huge part of their own success has come down to some lethal showings in the final third. Scoring 10 goals in just their last two outings, the Three Lions have scored two or more goals in each of their last five outings, including a famous 3-2 win away in Spain back in November. One man to watch on Thursday will be the red-hot Raheem Sterling. Picking up the PFA Young Player of the Year award, the Manchester City ace has now scored four goals in his last two international appearances.
