Two sides that have spent the majority of the season battling it out at the foot of the Championship table, on Tuesday night Nottingham Forest will face Barnsley.

For Middlesbrough, despite it appearing that former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka would be the man to turn their season around, Forest have once again slipped back to their old ways. Coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of high-flying Cardiff City, the Reds have now lost four of their last five and have now only picked up one win in the Championship since the beginning of March. Although their status in England’s second division is all but confirmed, Karanka will be worried about his sides recent defensive issues. The Reds have now conceded two goals in three of their last five.

As for José Morais’ Barnsley side, the Tykes have endured an almost identical recent run of form to their hosts on Tuesday night. Coming off the back of their own 2-1 defeat to Leeds last time out, Barnsley also have only picked up three points once since the beginning of March and their recent defensive issues have seen them slip back into the relegation zone. Now two points from Championship safety, the Tykes have now shipped two or more in five of their last six and have not kept a clean sheet in their last 13 matches on the bounce.
