Competition: MLS
Market: Over 2.5 goals
Odds: 3/5 @ 888sport
Two sides who have only continued to show a string of issues at the back either side of the enforced break, Real Salt Lake will host Los Angeles FC from behind closed doors in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Starting with the hosts, while Real Salt Lake might have managed to mark their return to Western Conference duties with a 4-1 win away at Colorado last month, it appears that was just a minor bounce for Freddy Juarez’s men. Crashing out of the MLS is Back tournament thanks to a 5-2 drumming at the hands of San Jose, the Claret and Cobalt put in what some are billing as a season-worst display over the weekend. Completely blown away and hit with a 4-0 hammering away at Minnesota on Sunday, Salt Lake have collected just a single point over their last three contests and have really shown some glaring issues at the back. Shipping a staggering 10 goals on their three-match winless run, it should also be noted that they have shipped over 1.5 goals in back-to-back matchups on home soil.
As for the visitors, while LAFC might have really burst onto the MLS seen last year, the Whites have continued on their own dreadful run of form. Coming under real scrutiny after being hit with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of bitter rivals LA Galaxy over the weekend, it appears that the pressure is really on Bob Bradley’s position at the Banc of California Stadium. Now hit with back-to-back defeats against their cross-town rivals over the past three weeks and also crashing out of the MLS is Back tournament at the hands of Orlando last month, the one-time Swansea boss has also seen his men gain a real reputation for their own glaring issues at the back. Without a clean sheet in their last 10 matchups either side of the enforced break, we’re backing what should be another lively contest between two leaky defences in midweek.
Bet: Over 2.5 goals at Real Salt Lake vs LAFC 3/5 for Thursday’s MLS matchup @ 888sport
