Looking to bounce back after their sluggish display against Hertha last weekend, Bayern Munich will make the trip to Schlake’s VELTINS-Arena on Saturday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while many around the VELTINS-Arena would have been concerned that Schlake might still be suffering with a hangover after just avoiding the drop last season, they have shown some much-needed signs of an improvement. Snatching a point and a clean sheet off of Champions League hopefuls Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend, former Huddersfield boss David Wagner has certainly improved the atmosphere around Gelsenkirchen. Now unbeaten in their past four appearances, it is also worth noting that Schalke picked up a 2-0 victory when Bayern Munich last came to town.

As for the visitors, while Bayern may have managed to snatch the Bundesliga title away from Borussia Dortmund at the back end of last season, they did show signs of a struggle in their 2-2 draw against Hertha last weekend. Having to come from behind to snatch a point, there remains plenty of defensive issues in the Bavarians camp. Along with shipping a pair of goals in their Super Cup defeat against BVB earlier in the month, the defending champions have failed to record a single clean sheet in any of their last eight contests. With six of the last nine contests producing over 2.5 goals within 90 minutes, we’re backing a lively encounter this weekend.
