Competition: Championship

Market: Over 3 goals

Odds: 6/4 @ Bet 365

Two sides who will have their sights set on securing a return to the Premier League, a resurgent Aston Villa will travel to the Hawthorns on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite a brief blip last month, it has been a bright start for West Brom and the Baggies will be confident of securing a playoff position this time around. In their opening 20 Championship games this season, they have recorded 10 wins, five defeats and five draws, scoring 42 and conceding 28 in return. Entering December, West Brom currently hold the best attacking record in the division. With a points tally of 35, they sit third in the table and just five points adrift of the automatic positions. As for their recent form, the Baggies are now unbeaten in their last four Championship matches and while they haven’t recorded a clean sheet in their last 11 league outings, they have now scored nine in their last four.

As for the visitors, bringing in Dean Smith from Brentford after a sluggish start to the new season, Aston Villa have done an impressive job of turning their campaign around prior to a hectic Christmas period. In their opening 20 games, they have won eight, drawn seven and lost five, scoring 39 and conceding 30 in return, no side in the top half of the table holds a worse defensive record. With a points tally of 31, they sit three points adrift of climbing into the playoff positions. As for their recent run of form, Villa are now unbeaten in their last five Championship matches, winning four of those. Most impressive, the Villans have now scored 17 goals on their five-match unbeaten run.
