In what has all the makings of a scintillating encounter in rural Germany, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt will face off on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a dramatic 4-3 defeat away at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, Borussia Dortmund have continued on what has been a rollercoaster campaign. Including crashing out of the DFP Pokal thanks to a 3-2 defeat against relegation scrappers Werder Bremen, Lucien Farve’s men are still dealing with some rather glaring issues at the back. Despite shipping at least a pair of goals in five of their last seven appearances, the title outsiders do hold a fearsome reputation for their lethal showings in the final third. With Jadon Sancho bagging eight goals in his last 10 matchups, BVB have scored at least a quartet of strikes in each of their four Bundesliga appearances on the spin.

As for the visitors, putting in what was another rampant display in their stunning 5-0 win away at Augsburg last weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt find themselves in the midst of a stellar purple patch. Desperate to secure another campaign of European football this year, the Reds are unbeaten since returning from the festive break, winning four of their last five contests. Including picking up back-to-back wins over title hopefuls RB Leipzig, one man to keep an eye out for on Friday could be the red-hot Filip Kostić. With four goals in his last two appearances, there is no doubt that Frankfurt will make the trip to Signal-Iduna-Park confident of causing another upset on the road.
