Former Arsenal player Marc Overmars is making a return to professional football. The winger will be joining Dutch First Division side Go Ahead Eagles, where it all started in 1990.

Overmars retired after the 2004 European Championship but made a successful appearance in Jaap Stam’s testimonial match last month.

The Dutchmen then received an offer from Go Ahead Eagles, one that wasn’t rejected.

The now 35 year old left winger spent most of his career playing for Ajax, Arsenal and Barcelona. With Ajax, he won the Champions League in 1995.
