In an unexpected move, it seems as if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has turned down a move to Chelsea after earlier reports affirmed that he was committed to a move to Stamford Bridge.
After Arsenal and Chelsea agreed to a £40 million deal for the 24-year-old midfielder, various outlets have reported that he has rejected the move in order to try and join Liverpool.
A report from BBC Sport states that Antonio Conte’s side planned to use the England international at wing-back, something that he did not agree with as one of the reasons he wanted to leave the Emirates was to play in centre midfield.
Now the ball seems to be in Liverpool‘s court as the transfer window remains open until Thursday and a bid is expected from the Reds.
However, a lower fee is expected from Liverpool as outlets don’t believe that Jürgen Klopp’s side will be able to match the sum that the Blues were willing to shell out for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
