La Liga leaders Barcelona have made a formal approach to sign Arsenal star midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to reports from Diario AS.
The Spanish newspaper claims that Arsene Wenger has given his nod to a possible January transfer to Camp Nou and is willing to let his player leave as long as he does not go to Manchester United.
The Catalans even approached Mesut Ozil himself to discuss personal terms and Diario AS claims that Ozil informed Barcelona that he would accept a €370,000-a-week deal to move back to Spain.
The sum Barcelona would have to invest in Mesut Ozil per year hence stands at €19 million which, at this point, is way too much for Barcelona wage structure.
It is reported that any possible Mesut Ozil deal would depend on Arda Turan’s departure this winter. The Turkish international has long been linked with a move away from Barcelona and is once again being pushed towards the exit door to accommodate the transfer of a more illustrious midfielder Mesut Ozil.
