With their sights firmly set on reclaiming their Bundesliga crown this season, a high-flying Borussia Dortmund will travel to a returning Koln on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, although the mood in Koln’s camp would have been at a high after securing a Bundesliga return last year, Achim Beierlorzer will also be calling for his side to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat against Wolfsburg last weekend. Along with needing penalties to come past lower league Wehen Wiesbaden in their dramatic 3-3 draw in the DFP Pokal last week, there remains some glaring issues that need some resolving at the RheinEnergieStadion. Losing three of their last four contests, including back-to-back defeats against Villareal and Southampton, Koln have recorded just a single clean sheet since the start of April.

As for the visitors, while Dortmund may have seen Bayern Munich pinch them to the Bundesliga crown last season, they have enjoyed a bright start to the year. Picking up a very impressive 5-1 win against Augsburg last week, Lucien Favre’s side are enjoying an 11-match winning run and have continued to catch the eye in the final third. One man to watch on Friday will be the red-hot Paco Alcácer. Bagging a brace against Augsburg last weekend and building off of his 18 Bundesliga strikes last season, the former Barcelona man should be confident of extending his tally on Friday.
