(GSM) – Serie A club Palermo have admitted they are keen to sign West Ham’s Valon Behrami. However, the Champions League hopefuls insist there has been no talks held over a possible transfer for the former Lazio player.
The Rosanero had tried to sign the Switzerland international in January but the Hammers were unwilling to do business. However, with West Ham struggling in the Premier League and facing dire financial conditions, they may be willing to sell Behrami in the summer.
Palermo accept there will be little chance for them to sign the midfielder, unless West Ham alter their current stance and decide to sell the player.
“I understand that the British press are keen to report the Palermo interest in Behrami, because of the contacts made in January, but at present there is no open discussion,” Palermo’s sporting director Walter Sabatini told TRM.
“Behrami is a player we like, I like him very much.
“Our coach (former Lazio boss Delio Rossi) knows him well, as he helped him to grow, and he also likes him.
“At the moment there is nothing, in the sense that nothing is concrete, but Behrami is a player we like.”
