Palermo have appointed former Chievo coach Stefano Pioli, the club have confirmed on their official website.
The Rossanero wasted no time in appointing new boss after Delio Rossi left the post on Wednesday, with Stefano Pioli signing a two-year deal at Renzo Barbera.
“Stefano Pioli is the new Palermo coach. He has signed a two-year contract with president Maurizio Zamparini’s club and there is an option for the third,” a statement on club’s official website read.
Delio Rossi left Palermo by mutual consent after holding talks with president Zamparini on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old Pioli was linked with both Palermo and Roma posts after he left Chievo at the end of the season, but he ultimately decided to accept an offer from Maurizio Zamparini.
Pioli will be officially unveiled as new Palermo coach at a press conference on Thursday.
