Palermo’s Chief Executive Rino Foschi has confirmed that the club are looking to sign Lazio winger Valon Behrami according to website goal.com.
The 23-year-old winger/full back has consistently been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico for the past season, with Premiership clubs such as Tottenham and Liverpool being strongly linked with the Swiss star.
After initial interest in the winger began Lazio President Claudio Lolito reluctantly price the midfielder at 12 million Euros, after the Lazio management had deemed the star as an untransferable asset.
Recent speculation has suggested that the Swiss star could be ready to buy out his own contract to move to Palermo, but Palermo’s Rino Foschi suggest that Palermo would rather go through the traditional method of buying the player.
Foschi told press: “We have an excellent relationship with Claudio Lolito and for several years we’ve followed Behrami. But we do not like what is happening between the player and Lazio regarding the Article 17 law of FIFA.”
“We respect very much the club and their president Lolito, we would only sign the player if it were through the official channels.”
