(GSM) – Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini has blamed the referee for their defeat against Internazionale on Sunday.

The Sicilians took the lead in the first half but Inter bounced back and Samuel Eto’o gave them the win with a second-half brace.

“There were incidents today that badly damaged us in the second half, when we could’ve equalised,” blasted Zamparini on ‘Qui studio a voi stadio.’

“What disturbs me the most is the attitude of the journalists, who acted like a mafia group. The Sky Italia commentators pretended nothing had happened, because they have to defend these nefarious acts.

“Maybe the referee got heatstroke today, as if those incidents had occurred in the Palermo area, he would’ve awarded four penalties against us. He lost us the game.

“There were four penalty incidents. Two were absolutely clear, two could’ve been given or not given depending on the interpretation.

“It’s a bit much, especially considering the penalty awarded against us in Brescia last week was non-existent.”

Zamparini even referred to the calciopoli scandal which damaged Italian football a couple of years ago.

“What do they have against Palermo? Is it bad luck or something else? Are we going back to the old style of refereeing?

“These are mistakes created by the wrong attitude from referees. It’s not a question of favouring Inter and I don’t have a problem with the Nerazzurri.

“Either they are angry at Palermo or I don’t know what to think.”
