Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini insists that the club officials will do everything in their power to persuade star striker Fabrizio Miccoli into signing a contract extension.
The 32-year-old is currently in his fifth season at Renzo Barbera and he I still touted as one of the most prolific forwards in Serie A.
Therefore, it is not surprising that Palermo president is eager to keep hold of his star player.
“How can I deprive myself of Miccoli in this form? I’m ready to extend his agreement,” Maurizio Zamparini was quoted as saying in La Repubblica.
The controversial club owner claims that the Italian international is a real role model for younger players.
“Miccoli is now at 100 per cent and he’s training like a true professional. He is an example for the rest of the squad.”
“He was primarily the captain because of his age, now he is the captain because he is the soul of the changing room.
“He’s working hard to prolong his career and I’m very happy with what he is doing.”
The experienced forward is one of the main reasons behind team’s recent uptrend in fortunes, seeing that he scored 5 goals and made 7 assists in last four games.
Miccoli has been by far the best player in the side this season, scoring 10 goals and setting up another 10 in just 18 Serie A games.
