Serie A strugglers Palermo are hot on the trail of Argentine striker Gonzalo Bergessio, Sky Sport Italia has suggested.
The summer transfer window closed last night, but clubs are still allowed to sign free agents and the Rosanero clearly plan to take advantage of the opportunity.
Palermo are desperately short of quality options up front and having scored just one goal in first two league fixtures, they hope to bring Gonzalo Bergessio to Stadio Renzo Barbera.
The Rosanero chiefs had a dinner with the striker and his agents yesterday evening and an agreement could be on the horizon.
Bergessio has been a free agent since leaving Mexican side Atlas and he already has plenty of Serie A experience, having represented Catania and Sampdoria.
The 32-year-old enjoyed a very successful spell with Palermo’s bitter rivals, scoring a total of 35 goals in 109 Serie A appearances for the Elephants.
