(GSM) – Palermo have made an approach for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Pezzini Leiva, according to the club’s sporting director Walter Sabatini.

The Sicilians have been linked with the Brazilian for several months and speculation has increased following the arrival of Roy Hodgson at Anfield.

Palermo’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has revealed that they have made an offer for Lucas.

“We have made an initial offer to the English club,” Walter Sabatini told Tgs Sport.

But he insists that they have not bid the reported fee of €6million (£5m).

“However, I can deny claims that we have offered £5m as reported by some media. We have offered much less than that…”

The South American signed for the Anfield giants from Gremio in July 2007.
