Palermo ready to sell Maccarone

Palermo have put striker Massimo Maccarone on the transfer list, according to the player’s agent.

Maccarone is not part of boss Delio Rossi’s plans for the future at Palermo.

“I received a phone call yesterday from the club in which I was told that they didn’t want the player anymore,” Paolo Fabbri noted.

“I want to make it clear that Palermo have made this decision and it was not because of a request from my client.”

Maccarone has recently been linked with a move to Fiorentina.

“He’s not played that much and even less in his natural role,” the representative added. “I’m not blaming anyone though, this is just how it goes.

“His teammates whom he is up against have done well and the Coach made his decisions.

“We’ll now accept that the club has put him up for sale and we’ll accept the consequences of that decision.”
