Palermo sign Pinilla from Grosseto

Serie A club Palermo have completed the signing of Chilean forward Mauricio Pinilla from Grosseto.  Pinilla, 26, had attracted the attention of several top flight Italian clubs after some excellent performances for Grosseto last season and joins Palermo on a four year contract.

Pinilla arrived in Italy in 2003 from Chilean club Universidad de Chile. Although contracted to Inter, he did not make a single appearance for the Nerazzurri in his time at the San Siro. He had unsuccessful spells at Chievo, Sporting, Celta Vigo and Hearts before returning to his native Chile in 2007. Pinilla has also represented Vasco, Apollon Limassol and most recently, Grosseto in his career.

Palermo finished 5th in Serie A last season and will compete in the Europa League in the 10/11 season. The Rosanero narrowly missed out on the Champions League, with fourth placed Sampdoria finishing just two points ahead of them.
