Palermo snap up Argentine defender Garcia

Palermo have completed the signing of young Argentine defender Santiago Garcia from Rosario Central. Garcia, who celebrated his 22nd birthday last week, joins L’Aquile on a four year deal.

Garcia becomes Palermo’s sixth acquisition of the summer transfer window after Pajtim Kasami, Massimo Maccarone, Mauricio Pinilla, Kamil Glik and Matteo Darmian.

According to reports, Palermo will pay Rosario Central $1.2m for the defender’s services. Garcia will earn 500,000 euros a season at Palermo.

Garcia becomes the third Argentine player at Palermo after midfielder Javier Pastore and defender Nicolas Bertolo. Pastore was also part of Argentina’s 2010 World Cup squad.
