Serie A outfit Palermo will make a fresh bid for Brazilian Nilmar in the January transfer window, according to their president Maurizio Zamparini.
Palermo lost another Brazilian forward Amauri to Juventus last month but failed in an attempt to sign Nilmar from Brazilians Internacional.
“I want Nilmar to be already a Palermo player in January,” said Zamparini from a press conference in Palermo.
“One of our men is still in Brazil and I'm ready to pay half his transfer fee right now to ensure we have him for the second half of the championship.”
Palermo signed Croatia striker Igor Budan from Parma in the summer but he has injury problems.
And Zamparini believes that adding former Lyon forward Nilmar to his ranks would allow his team to challenge for the Champions League.
“Palermo's aim is the UEFA Cup but I wanted Nilmar because that's not enough for me, I want to be in the Champions League,” he added.
