(GSM) – Palermo forward Fabrizio Miccoli doesn’t expect to be part of Marcello Lippi’s plans for the World Cup and has revealed that he won’t be watching the tournament on tv either.
30-year-old Miccoli has enjoyed his best ever season in Serie A, scoring 18 goals, which make him Palermo’s joint all-time top goalscorer with Dante Di Maso.
“It’s almost taken for granted that I won’t be going to the World Cup. I say ‘good luck’ to all my colleagues,” the former Juventus striker told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“To tell the truth they are all a little hurt, but I expected not to go. After the season I have had, I hoped for it.
“Anyway, I’m alright. I will go to the seaside in Gallipoli with my family who are worth much more. I will watch the World Cup through binoculars. Actually, I won’t watch it at all. If I do turn on the TV I might, just might support Portugal…
“I don’t want to make any judgments. Lippi is the Coach and he will have his reasons. Everything that the national team is doesn’t interest me. I am fine just the way I am.”
