Palmeiras have tabled an official offer to sign former Boca Juniors playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme, according to Brazilian newspaper Lance.
The 34-year-old midfielder has been offered a three-year deal by the Brazilian giants, who have just been relegated to the second division.
Juan Roman Riquelme has been pondering his options since his deal at La Bombonera expired in the summer, and he recently ruled out a return to Boca Juniors.
Brazilian sides Santos and Cruzeiro both attempted to sign the veteran midfielder, but only to see the deals fall through.
Riquelme appears happy to play on for a few more years after deciding not to retire from football altogether, but it is highly unlikely he would agree to play in Brazil’s second division.
The highly rated midfielder has represented Boca Juniors on three occasions, while also enjoying spells with Barcelona and Villarreal.
