Palmeiras defended their Brazilian Serie A lead with a 1-3 win at Santos, while Goias championship aspirations received a big blow against Botafogo.

Initially things didn’t go as planned for Palmeiras at Santos, and Luizinho even put the home side ahead eight minutes after the break.

But Diego Souza equalised ten minuted later and Robert made it 1-2 in minute 72. The third and final away goal came from former CSKA Moscow striker Vagner Love.

Thanks to this result, Palmeiras maintain their five-point lead over Sao Paulo.

Goias remain at eight points from the leaders after a 1-3 defeat by Botafogo. Jobson, Victor Simoes and Andre Lima scored for the guests, after which only Amaral managed to do something back for the home side.
