France international Sidney Govou was on Tuesday fined 50,000 euros by Panathinaikos after breaking the Greek club’s rules governing nights out.
Media reported Govou had met with Panathinaikos boss Nicholas Pateras on Monday to apologise for his actions and assured him that he would not break the rules again.
A spokesman for Panathinaikos confirmed to AFP that the unannounced meeting took place and that the 32-year-old former Lyon striker was fined 25,000 euros for each of the two incidents he was involved in.
Govou joined Panathinaikos on a two-year deal worth a reported 1.5 million euros a year with a one million euros signing on bonus this summer, but he has seen little first team action after taking time off following the death of his father.
