Pantilimon hints at Fiorentina deal

Manchester City wantaway goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has revealed that he could join Fiorentina in the summer transfer window.

The Romanian is unhappy with his status at Etihad and has recently expressed his desire to leave.

Pantilimon was omitted from the starting line-up in the FA Cup final against Wigan despite being previously told he would start at Wembley and that seems to have been the last drop.

The experienced shot-stopper has hinted that a summer move to Serie A could be on the cards.

“I am 26 years old, I’m in the middle of my career and I cannot be happy to play five games a season,” Pantilimon told La Nazione.

“The interest of Fiorentina? My agent deals with this, I just think of working and improving.

“But getting in Serie A would be a dream and some national team-mates, such as Lobont and Chivu, spoke well about Florence.”

Pantilimon joined Manchester City in the summer of 2011 from Politehnica and he has since failed to make a single Premier League appearances at the club.

The 26-year-old, nonetheless, largely impressed during this year’s FA Cup run, but was then denied a place in the final against Wigan.

Fiorentina seem to be seriously thinking about luring him to Artemio Franchi as they are not satisfied with their current options that include Emiliano Viviano and Neto.
