Roma veteran Christian Panucci has dedicated their derby win over Lazio on Sunday to late President Franco Sensi.

The Giallorossi won the match 1-0 after a goal by Brazilian forward Julio Baptista.

“I want to dedicate this victory to our fans and also to Franco Sensi,” Panucci said.

“This was the first time we played a Rome derby without him and I think he would have been pleased with our performance.

“The game came during a difficult moment for us and the fact that we won shows that the old Roma is still here.”

Panucci was angry after being substituted for Marco Cassetti near the end of the match.

“I’m never happy when the Coach substitutes me,” Panucci admitted.

“But it was only right that Cassetti came on with 10 minutes left. Everything is fine, we got the result we needed and are satisfied that we are back on track.”
