Roma are currently five points adrift of fourth-placed Genoa in the Serie A standings with nine games remaining in the season but veteran defender Christian Panucci insists the Lupi have what it takes to break into the Champions League places.

“We are in good shape but could do much better,” Panucci said to the Corriere dello Sport. “We are suffering because of our injury situation but our side is built to stay up there and we must give everything to reach fourth place”.

“Otherwise it would be a failure for us all. We are ambitious footballers and want to play Champions League football next term. I am confident we can secure a top-four finish because we have the quality and the character to make things right.”
